The Film “Voices and Colours”
In the photo: one of the episodes of the film — the chamber choir sings.
This is the title of a colour narrative film-concert being shot at the “Telefilm” association of Gorky Television. Director: Yu. Bespalov; cameraman: V. Ternovoy. The film will feature works by Sergei Prokofiev (the “Vocalise” from the film “Ivan the Terrible”), César Cui and Alexander Kasyanov, melodies by Mozart and by the old European composers Lotti and Janequin, as well as Russian folk songs.
… The music sounds in the halls of the Gorky State Art Museum. Before the viewer pass the canvases of Russian and Western European painters. The music will help reveal the inner harmony of the lines, forms and colours of the paintings; it will be not merely an effective decoration but a means of revealing the emotional meaning of the musical work. And the colours will “sound”.
Performers: the boys’ chapel and the chamber choir; artistic director and conductor: L. Sivukhin. The film ends with a fantasia on Russian songs dedicated to the Volga. This fantasia was written by L. Sivukhin. “Voices and Colours” is a joint work of Gorky Television Studio, the Gorky State Art Museum, the Gorky Boys’ Choir Chapel and the Choral Society.
