The Children’s Chapel Is 10 Years Old

The Gorky Children’s Boys’ Choir Chapel has turned 10 years old.

Founded by a special decision of the government, it provides a musical education mainly to gifted children who are orphans. Its pupils are introduced not only to the art of singing but also learn to play various musical instruments and receive a general education. The staff of this choral collective, headed by V. P. Malyshev, includes 15 experienced teachers and 10 members of support staff. The Chapel has a good boarding school.

During its existence the Chapel has produced quite a few graduates, who are now continuing their education at music colleges and conservatories in Gorky and Moscow.

On Sunday a concert dedicated to the Chapel’s tenth anniversary took place in the Great Hall of the Gorky Conservatory. Warm words of greeting and wishes for success were offered by the director of the Conservatory G. S. Dombaev, the composer A. A. Kasyanov and the director of the music college V. A. Lebsky. An order of the Gorky City Department of Culture was also read out, noting the services of the staff of the Children’s Choir Chapel.
